A practical evidence checklist for choosing a Ghana delivery partner
A strong pitch and a good reference are not verified evidence. Before choosing a delivery partner in Ghana, separate what you have checked from what you have only been told.
The short answer
For each potential partner, check legal registration and good standing, beneficial ownership, track record with similar work, coverage of the regions you need, financial capacity and references from current clients. Record for every point whether the evidence is verified, only claimed or unknown, and compare partners on verified evidence first.
Claimed is not verified
Partners describe themselves at their best. That is normal, not dishonest. The discipline is recording how you know each thing: from an official record or a document you checked, from the partner’s own account, or not at all.
The checks that matter most
- Registration and ownership: who you are contracting with, and who controls them. Confirm both through official records, such as those held by Ghana’s Office of the Registrar of Companies, not only through copies the partner supplies.
- Track record: similar work, with contracts, completion letters or references you contact yourself.
- Coverage and capacity: the regions you need, and the finances and people to deliver at your volume.
A worked example
The partner due diligence checklist compares two fictional distributors on six weighted criteria. Counting every claim, Distributor A scores 81 and Distributor B 75. Counting only verified evidence, A falls to 40 and B leads with 63. A’s beneficial ownership is only claimed, which the checklist lists as a critical open check.
Before you sign
Visit the premises, speak to current clients directly, and put scope, reporting and exit terms in writing. Re-check registration and terms every year.
What this guide does not cover
The checklist organises evidence; it does not verify anyone, and nothing in it is an allegation about any partner. Identity, ownership and sanctions checks need official registries and, where needed, professionals.
